What's in a song? |
Songwriting for David Goodman began at the age of 12, in a time when poetry and
lyricism were beginning to merge and move a generation and a world. Influenced by
artists like Dylan, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Leonard Cohen, Bob Marley,
and so many inspired and gifted creators, voices of an age, and era, Goodman began his
songwriting career in an atmosphere of purpose and spirituality, creative newness and
hope.
David Goodman’s songs reflect that era, with a keen sense of lyrical inventiveness and
musical magic. His vocals are clear and instinctive, decisive and honest. His acoustic
guitar work is masterful, with a style all his own.
|
|
| He sounds like three guitars rather
than one. Bass lines moving against high string melodies, wrapped around world rhythms
and unique, changing dynamics rarely heard from most acoustic players happy to strum along
behind the songs.
|
| |
|
He is purely vocal/acoustic magic, so treat yourself and listen up! This isn’t your
everyday lounge lizard. This is what music is supposed to be.

Flying High With Flying Colours! |
| |
|
David Goodman has been amazing Key Westers with his solo work for years at the
Hog’s Breath Saloon. Now he brings new life and wonderful surprise in the creation of
his band Flying Colours.
By teaming up with virtuoso Chris Clifton, Goodman formed the basis for this savory soup
of musicianship. Clifton’s credits include years of travel with the Godfather of Texas r&b,
|
Delbert McClinton, and the likes of James Taylor, Mason Roughner, and Jimmy Vaughn, Stevie Ray
Vaughn’s older brother.
Clifton, a blues master at age 17 already performing with McClinton,
had a strong influence on Stevie Ray. Clifton’s soulful, melodic and incomparable Stratacaster
transports the listener to a realm somewhere far beyond the world of normalcy and redundant
guitarmanship! He ranks with the best.
Add to the soup the almost inconceivable bass guitar of Wayne Hammond. A native of Cleveland
and veteran of New York City’s demanding music scene, Hammond is nothing less than pure genius.
He brings to mind and memory the late Jaco Pastorious. Hammond is also a brilliant composer,
and sings with his own style of soul, humor and assertiveness. He has toured with artists Mick
Taylor (Rolling Stones), Ron Wood (Traffic) and performed with John Lee Hooker and a number of
New York’s most renowned outfits ranging from blues to hip hop, jazz to alternative and good
ol’ rock’n’roll. Wayne Hammond will leave an impression in your mind that will not go away!
The bassist for all bassists!
Newcomer David Edmisten brings national champion flat-picking technique, Telecaster mastery,
and five octave vocals that rival (and duly impressed) Vince Gill. An old time friend of
Clifton’s, Edmisten joined the band on their second recording venture, Think Again. In unison
with Clifton, the result is unrestrainable guitar magic.

Drummer Bobby Kent is another New York vet who has played with a list of major greats too long
to name. His solid time (nickname The Metronome) and errorless performances give Flying Colours
the final touch of professionalism and class.
Mix in the original compositions of David Goodman and energy beyond belief, Flying Colours soars
above the mundane and into the wild blue wonder of pure musical magic! Hang on for a rollicking
good ride!!!
